DARE Graduation
The Sixth Grade Class at Union Central Elementary will hold D.A.R.E. Graduation on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 1:00PM. We invite parents and friends to join us in celebrating this milestone!2011 PTO Fall Festival

2011 Caldwell Parish Elementary Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to Mrs. Katie Hillestad, 2nd grade teacher at Union Central Elementary, for being selected as the Caldwell Parish Elementary Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Hillestad will be honored, along with the Junior High and High School Teachers of the Year, at a reception on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 4:00-5:30 at the CPHS Fine Arts Building. Please join us in recognizing Mrs. Hillestad for this outstanding achievement.W.A.R. Party
Students and teachers who met their A.R. goal for the 2nd 6-Weeks dressed in camouflage to celebrate their accomplishment. Students were also eligible for the W.A. R. (We All Read) Party where they played on the National Guard Obstacle Course. We'd like to thank Sgt. Guidry and those dads who helped set up for the exciting day!

We are also proud of the 4th Grade Club who place 4th and the 6th Grade Club who placed 2nd in the parish contest.

Book Fair
"Book Fair Carnival: Your Ticket to Read!"
The Scholastic Book Fair will be at Union Central February 15-18, 2011! We are planning an exciting week to celebrate literacy and give our students and their families a chance to buy the latest books!
Tuesday-"Hats Off to Good Books" Students may wear a hat/cap with school uniform. Our annual Family Education Night will also be held from 5:30-7:30 PM. The teachers are planning some exciting, hands-on activities for students and parents/caregivers. *Students who complete all 4 activities will be eligible to enter in the schoolwide drawing for a $20 Gift Certificate to the Book Fair.
Wednesday- "Step Right Up and Read" Students may wear crazy or mix/match socks with school uniform.
Thursday- "LOOKing for a Good Book" Students may wear sunglasses with school uniform. Grandparents are invited to the bookfair from 7:00-8:00 AM. Breakfast goodies and coffee will be served.
Friday- "Favorite Storybook Character Contest" Students may dress up as their favorite storybook character. Students must have their book and be ready to tell all about it. Winners will be chosen from each class.
